May 19 One Hundred PlusA lot of people probably know about the myths surrounding a certain fizzy beverage but I'm about to tell you that there is a certain beverage out there which is very good for health or probably making you feel better (placebo effect??) if you're not well.
I've been told that a certain fizzy drink can do the following:
Anyway, I was having a bit of stomach trouble due to some wayward "sambal" in my nasi lemak and so, it was feeling very bloated and I had to visit the loo several times.
Dad: You do know that you could just take salt with water? Me: Eh? That would mean salt water, i.e. sea? I think the salt+sugar solution is ok Dad: No-la! Can take salt with water will work... Me: ??? ** Take 100+ bottle and drink **
I felt a whole lot better. Not sure what the drink did but the isotonic mix did help. Probably the salt reacted with whatever germs and I slept really well last night. I even managed to have a pretty decent breakfast too!
I've taken this 100+ drink when I had a slight fever before and it helps too! Perhaps its the isotonic mixture that this helping at the molecular level to have enough water to fight the germs???
I don't know, but I keep a bottle of this nearby for emergencies like this. February 10 Mumps** 8:30:29 am - Pelennor Fields, Gondor, Middle Earth ** [ [[ Beep! ]] ] - Received 1 New Message (Aiya, don't tell me, Frodo mau cari me yam cha. I not free-le, got to go kill some Orcs later...) Eh? A message from EV? Hmmm, so early??? Something is not right. (Checks message - Press Menu --> Messages --> Inbox --> New Message) "Not going to work today. Got the mums. Have to see doctor later and so take mc." Hmmmm... First of all, what the heck are "mums"???!!! Anyway, I'd guess EV meant to say that she had the mumps. I did a quick call to just kacau her about she looking like a hamster and also, wondering if she had mistaken swollen gums or tooth as mumps. She said that she still managed to laugh and eat, though kind of painful. She said that only 1 side was swollen (????) and that it was painful. Anyway, I did a quick search on Webmd, our trusted medical source and found out that mumps were contagious. So, she could have caught from someone, while she was out and didn't know about it. Scary... Her mother said that she probably ate too much and got "heaty". I just said that she was probably starting to look like a pig since she pigged out so much during CNY. Anyway, I ended the conversation, wishing her well and hopefully she'll feel better, so that she could eat some more since Chap Goh Meh was around the corner. ** 10:45:01am - still at the same location, Gondor, Middle Earth ** [ [[ Beep ]] ] - Received 1 New Message Ah, must be EV again. Opened it up to read.... "Doc said not mumps. Its viral infection on the limfo. Gave antibiotics, painkiller and anti-swollen med." (EV's messages are getting weirder and weirder... o_0 0_o) Again, I don't know what is limfo, I'm assuming she meant either lymph nodes or lymph gland. Keke, I'm no medical student but I do know that these glands are situated on the neck, near either side of our ears. Anyway, I'm not surprised that the doc gave antibiotics. Its a M'sian thing. WE LOOOVVEE our Anti-biotics. Even if you have a viral infection, they give it to you. When you ask why, the doc will say stuff like "Errr, just in case you get a bacterial infection-lo". For years, I always thought that the antibiotic was a miracle drug, able to kill both virus and bacteria. Not until I went to pre-uni and did a chapter on Organic Chemistry did I learn the full extent of these anti-biotics. Of course, I did Biology as well and also learnt that both the bacteria and virus are two different things. You can't kill a virus with anti-biotics. The virus probably looks at the thing and says "What the Heck.... " and moves on. However, some anti-biotics also have some anti-viral properties and so, it can kill two birds with one stone-la! My doc friend, a.k.a Galadriel in Aust will probably have a kick out of this. Whenever we disturb her by asking for a rough diagnosis, she'll always say, "You know, what you have will not kill you....." -_____- Anyway, EV told me that the swelling has gone down much. The doc told her that the swelling will go down in a couple of weeks. Not sure if its real mumps because if it is, its kind of contagious and so, EV should be quarantined at home and she should stay away from the small kids. (She should stay away from small children. She can be frightening... kekeke) The important part of this story, well, don't overeat and take care of your health!!! Feb 12 2006 Update: Turns out EV REALLY did contract mumps... So, she's sick. Poor gal... December 16 Stuffy.. Stuffy... Nose...There is a particular point during the recovery from a cold that your entire nasal passage becomes blocked. I'm still wondering, what is causing that blockage... Mucuous? Air? As I try to clear my nasal and breathing passages, its becoming clear that this is going to take some time before I'm able to get 90% of my sense of smell/taste back. I hate getting the flu.... |
