July 07 Busy Weekend...My calendar never looked busier than this week. (@__@) Of course, those who doesn't like or know nuts about football may choose to watch Wimbeldon (esp the women's final.. kekeke) and those who know nuts about tennis, will definitely watch WC2006. Those whose hard-earned $$ or entire week's worth of WoW or lunch $$ will definitely watch the colossal Italy vs France match. Anyway, I will probably lose alot of sleep this weekend. I've got Wimbeldon to catch (Roger Federer to win!!!) as well as WC2006 finals (France will win!!!). So, I'll be dead tired on Monday when I go to work... (=___=) Hope that the match will be clean and that the "kayu-ness" of the ref will be kept to a low-level.... June 11 The Greatest Show On EarthWorld Cup 2006 or affectionally known as "The Greatest Show on Earth" has started. Everything will come to a standstill. Everyone will be losing some sleep, watching the game on tv. Its a bit of a hassle for us here in M'sia, as the matches will be shown late at night and into the wee hours of the morning. I just caught the first few opening matches but I've got to say, the best one I've watched so far was the Trinidad/Tobago vs Sweden in Group B. Both teams played their best, but Trinidad/Tobago played better as they were down to 10 men only... The ref was reasonable, booking a few players for rough play and eventually sending 1 player from Tri/Tob for rough tackle. A real entertaining match, I was expecting Sweden putting in at least a couple of goals but they were denied time and again by the Tri/Tob defenders who did an excellent job at defending deep in the field but also for launching very fast counter-attacks. Much to say, Sweden is mightly embarassed now.. Man of The Match: Shaka Hislop - for magnificent saves November 26 George Best (1946-2005)The Red Devils and England have lost a football legend. George Best passed away on the 25th of November, 2005 (12:55 GMT) after a losing a long fight with an illness. A tribute to George Best is found on the Man Utd website. I was raised as a Liverpool fan but even in my young days as a football fan, I do remember George Best and how he played football. He wore the number 7 jersey for the team and subsequently any player who got into Utd who wore the 7, treated it with utmost respect and pride. I would say that we should be sad about losing a legend, but we should be happy to be able to see such talent on the pitch in our lifetime. I wonder if the kids of today who are football fans are able to see the beauty of perfection that George Best executed on the field. There can never be another player like George Best. May he rest peacefully in the Lord's House. |
